Till We Meet

January 18, 2016

Querido familiares y amigos,

So in the space of 3 days we lost more than half of our investigators…. lol…. I have to laugh or I’ll fall into huge depression lol… but I realized that they weren’t ready for the gospel! They still have to mature a little bit more and maybe in the future they will listen and make those sacred covenants!

So Karen changed her baptismal date for February and its pretty upsetting… She knows EVERYTHING is true but she still feels like she’s not ready. she doesn’t want to be a hypocrite like the scriptures say and fall away in the future… she wants to be ready 100% and without hypocrisy… It would be a miracle if I’m still here to be able to see the baptism :/

Well, this Saturday we will have the honor to see and listen to Elder Cook!!!! He’s coming to El Salvador this weekend and its pretty interesting that I have this chance before I come home to listen to another apostle I feel blessed for this chance to have another apostle come to talk to us! I hope that I’ll be able to shake his hand like we did with Elder Nelson a good 6 months ago!!! It’ll be cool!!!

Well, I’m getting closer and closer to finishing and more and more stressed and anxious!!! lol… I find it hard to stay relax… all I’m waiting for is something similar to Doctrine and Covenants 126,

1 Dear and well-beloved brother, Brigham Young, verily thus saith the Lord unto you: My servant Brigham, it is no more required at your hand to leave your family as in times past, for your offering is acceptable to me.
2 I have seen your labor and toil in journeyings for my name.
3 I therefore command you to send my word abroad, and take especial care of your family from this time, henceforth and forever. Amen.

NOT to be trunky but that’s what I’m waiting for hahaha…..

Well, thank you all for your prayers and for your love! I hope that this week will be good for you all!

Not a lot of Time

January 11, 2016

Mis queridos,

Well, once again I don’t have a lot of time to write… but to give a little report about whats going on in the area I can do =D

So this Saturday we had a baptism date set… but I think Karen, that’s the name of the investigator, got discouraged… Reason one, she probably has to go to San Salvador with her family…. and reason two…. The family Medina is a little…. wild…. I guess I could say… there is a lot of disorder…. I can honestly say that its kind of how me and my brothers and sisters acted before I left on my mission, but a little bit worse than that…. I believe my brothers are a little bit more obedient and not THAT rebellious… hahaha, or I hope so haha. but I believe this is affecting the decisions of Karen… It doesn’t help that she lives there with her husband, Melvin, oldest boy in the Medina Family…. So we are hoping that next week, the 23rd of January she will get baptized! She could use some prayers…. =D

So, the church has changed a few things recently… So apparently Headquarters is tired of Change Meetings… hahaha so we won’t have any meetings where all the missionaries that has transfers get together and President tells us where we are going next… We may have to walk the dangerous roads of El Salvador with our bags, alone, to our next area… O_o I’m grateful that I only have 10ish weeks left so I wont be affected by this that much =D hehehe…

Well, everything is going well here in Ozatlan! I’m hoping President will allow me to finish here at least… if not…. I’ll go and do what the Lord commands =)

I love you guys hope this week is a bright and cheerful week!

January….

January 4, 2015

Entonces Mis Queridos,

The Year 2015 has ended…. and starts the Year 2016!!!! Many things to think about, many plans to make, many goals to accomplish!! I just hope that my Heavenly Father will help me stay focused these last few months of my time here on the mission… I sometimes feel like I can’t take it anymore…. haha…

So I’m pleased to announce that Fanny was baptized on the 31 of December, AND I had the honor to baptize her =X She’s a good example of faith, enduring to the end, and applying the scriptures in her life. She has pushed through some troubling times and has felt the Atonement in her life. It’s amazing to see how someone changes the moment that they hear and learn the gospel, in their life. That’s if they are prepared for it!

So, Everything is going well here in my area. my companion is very helpful and very caring?(I’m forgetting how to spell….. X_X) through the rough times. I feel bad when I don’t feel like or embarrassed to expressing myself of all the stress or frustration that I feel at times…. I don’t know why its so much different in this companionship then in all the others… I haven’t felt so alone like this since my training…. 2 years ago 😛 hehehe… But He’s a really good missionary and good companion! I just feel like its me that has the problem and not him 😛 I don’t understand why I’m like this but its something I need to change…

Well, I got nothing else to write… The work is the same… haha but I hope that all is well back home for you all!

Love you all!!!!

New Year!

December 28, 2015

Entonces mis queridos!

Well, it was super great to see my family and to get JUST a little taste of what my 3 younger brothers and sister are 😉 haha it was great to interact with them! Sure they didn’t give me that much time to actually talk with everyone else there but that’s ok! I enjoyed every minute of it! I actually can’t wait to see them! I was grateful I was able to have an hour to talk with them! It was a blessing to have been given that much time!

I’m sorry to some that I told I was calling at a certain time… My leaders changed my time FOR ME when I already told everyone the time… but be of good cheer =D I’ll be coming soon ^_^ hahaha!

So this week, the other missionaries have a baptism for the 31 of December! She was my old investigator before I got transferred… but she has always told me how grateful she is to Heavenly Father that we have blessed her life with the gospel! She just recently had a few tragic moments in her life…. Her father, by blood, moved to the states since…. a very long time, and has been fighting cancer for the passed 3 or 4 months…. he entered into the final stages of cancer, the life threatening stage…. and he passed away on Sunday…. It was a terrible moment for her… she still is barely hanging on a thread from not breaking down again into tears… It would be AMAZING if you guys can keep her in her prayers, Her name is Fanny Matta. She has a daughter that has 7 years and her name is Rebecca. If you can keep them in your prayers it would be wonderful!

So we encountered, now I feel like its pokemon…. hehe You have encountered pikachu, ok but we found a family of 8!!!! That are SO excited to learn the gospel! when I see this big family I only put two more faces and I got my own family ^_^ jejeje but they have known the ward missionaries, Luis (Luigi) and Mario Guido(the sound is like Gi)! They have seen how they were before they were members and have seen the changes they have made since they began to be members! They are SO awesome! I love this family!! I hope that they will all be able to get baptized at the same time for the 30 of January! or at least 7 out of the 8 for the youngest is only has 4 years but this family could use the blessings!

Well I don’t have much to say now… but I love you guys! I really enjoyed my Christmas here! The great thing about being friendly with people is that they give you gifts ^_^ hehehe but I’m really grateful for the members here! They are full of love and are very friendly!

Well, Have a great week and have a wonder new years!!!! Make plans for the next year by looking over this years goals. Look at the ones you accomplished and those that you haven’t, and make plans to accomplish the ones you didn’t do and make new goals for the ones you have accomplished!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🎆🎇🎉

Not a lot of time

December 21, 2015

Buenas Mis queridas Familiares y Amigos!

well I don’t have a lot of time left…. but I’m going to make this short and to the point ^_^ hehehehe but all is going well here in Ozatlan!!! we are baptizing like CRAZY!!! =D We had another baptism on Sunday and that makes it 5 this month!!!! Our bishop is really happy with the changes that’s been going on in the ward! He always thanks us for our hard work but I feel weak if I didn’t have my Heavenly Father help me in this work! I am nothing without my Heavenly Father… If I didn’t have the Holy Ghost in my lessons… I wouldn’t have the success that I am having now!

Well I’m really excited for Christmas ^_^ to be able to talk with my family through Skype for the last time before I come home!!!!! I’m looking forward to the call! I’m hoping to be able to see EVERYONE of my brothers and sisters this time 😉 hahaha Every time that I have called one or three of my siblings were asleep xD

I hope that you all will have a wonderful Christmas this year and remember the Birth of our savior! I’m grateful for my Savior and all that he has done for me, so that I may be able to have joy and peace in this world!!!

Have a very Merry AND Holy Christmas this year! (I learned the Holy part from my Grandma Cutler! She has a great point that it should be said as a Holy Christmas, Not a Merry one!)

I love you all and hope to see you soon!

MOVING!

December 14, 2015

Mis Queridas Familiares y Amigos,

Well, we are finally moving to Ozatlan… I’m actually sad about this because I’m leaving behind some really good members and really good investigators… but seeing none of this is by my will nor what I want I don’t really have much of a choice haha! but maybe I’ll be able to finish my mission here in Usulutan if its the will of the Lord. We are going to start moving our stuff tomorrow and I’m not looking forward to this with all the things we have in the house… D=

So our Ward mission leader got married ^_^ we got to go to the wedding, but not at the sealing -_- It was cool to see how they do things here in El Salvador and the traditions they have here.

I’m looking forward for Christmas day! I still don’t know what time I’ll be able to call home and everything like that but it will be awesome!

I honestly don’t have much to write…. like always -_- I don’t know why D: but everything is great here in El Salvador! I’m sad that I have to leave it soon :/ but enjoying every moment I can here! Thank you all for your support and your love!!! I love you guys and hope everything is going well for you guys!!!

December 7, 2015

Queridas, Amables Familias Y Amigos!

So we had a few baptisms on Sunday! With the help of the ward missionaries we baptized a family of 4!!! And Elder Tay, on the right side of the picture, baptized the little girl! It was really cool to be honest, I never had so many baptisms in one day!!! The Lord is blessing me with these baptisms, I must be doing something right if he is blessing me with them 😉 haha.

I am so happy that I don’t have transfers this change! I get to stay here in Ozatlan, Usulutan! Sure I wont be able to see all the members and investigators that I want still in my old area but at least it gives another reason why they should go to church, so they can see me ^_^ hehehe 😉 As a joke I always say this to some of the less actives and some of the Investigators that I once taught!

Now my father asked me some questions to help him out with his lesson in High Priest quorum so I’m going to add this to my email! WARNING: my spelling is getting worse… don’t laugh :(((

Question 1: As a missionary in El Salvador, What are some restored truths, that you believe that your part of the world is hungry for and can you give examples from a missionaries eyes?

Answer 1: Some Gospel Truths that these people need, that are prepared for it, is knowing there is a church of God that has all the restored Gospel and all the truthfulness there of. Because here in El Salvador there are little churches down every block, every street, and every corner. These churches aren’t anything big, but they confuse so many people with different doctrines. Its just like the time of Joseph Smith with the different churches, fighting against one another, and teaching each principle in many different ways, by their own understandings. They don’t realize the necessity of the Gift of the Holy Ghost and the sacred ordinances like baptism and those that we do in the Temple!
Another is the power of the Atonement. Many believe that they are lost and can’t be saved because of their many sins. Many religions believe that there is only one repentance process and there is not anything else to worry about. Its something that President Vasquez has asked us to understand the doctrine and principles from this theme. The moment they understand these two gospel truths they are basically converted to the Gospel. If they aren’t converted there are other truths that fits the needs of the investigators.

Question 2: In what ways can each of us, regardless of our circumstances, share the gospel? What do people in El Salvador do to share the gospel, because from what I have seen and heard from you their circumstances are much less than ours, so, what do they do?

Answer 2: To share the Gospel, to be honest, there are many ways we can share the gospel with others. The best ways to be honest, is through the friends or family we have a certain bond or trust that allows us to get down deeper in the lives of others without offending others and without them feeling uncomfortable. Once you have gained their trust look for key words or the lifestyle of the person to find out the needs of the people. Teaching something to others that just had a death in the family or other other crisis that the gospel can help them grow their faith and their hope! Just teaching small basic principles of the gospel for the need of the investigator that can touch them in their hearts, right down to the core! I can’t write all the amazing experiences that i have had personally and with others because i never would finish. But some that i would love to share are about two brothers, Mario and Luis. (I always loved saying “There’s the Mario brothers, Mario and Luigi!”) They are the reason that I have opened a new area because of the work they are doing. Since the missionaries were taking away they started visiting the less actives and their closest friends and teaching them the little knowledge of the church and of the scriptures. They are recent converts of 5 to 6 months and within less than 3 weeks we had 4 baptisms for the 6 of December. But the point is that by the small and simple things we can change the lives of many! These brothers are humble bread makers, but the lord blessed them with the desire to serve others. Its so simple to share the gospel but we tend to make things harder than they should for the fear that we have.

Question 3: Do you have any experiences with an investigator who was converted because of the Book of Mormon? What did they feel while reading if? how did the spirit touch them through reading the Book of Mormon and at what point did they come to realize that it was true; therefore realizing that the Church was also true?

Answer 3: I don’t know if you remember one of my investigators called Francisco when i was in Berlin? Well, this man was praying for the chance to hear from the missionaries again. before he loved the Gospel and wanted to be baptized. He knew everything about the church was true, the only thing is that his wife didn’t allow him to get baptized. so for many years he waited for this day once again. the day we showed up to his house he thought two angels came down from heaven to visit him. I will never forget the day he held the book of Mormon in his hands once again! he called it “la perla de gran precio” (the Pearl of Great Price). Everyday we passed by his house, visiting him or not, he would always be sitting in his chair reading the book of Mormon, if he didn’t have work to do. He knew that everything about the church was true. The day of his baptism was a day of great happiness! Though I almost killed him, he was the happiest guy I could have met. I told him Three times how the steps of baptism was so he wouldn’t swallow a bunch of water or breath in the water. I honestly thought I killed him. but I remember the joke you made that day. At least he was cleaned from his passed sins and would have died in paradise… Seeing how he still lacked the second part of baptism he couldn’t enter into the kingdom of god. But gratefully he was confirmed and still is living and a really active member!

Wow… I never typed so much in my life 😉 haha Just kidding! I actually liked answering these questions. It helped me remember my areas and the many experiences that i had here in the mission and to think all of this time is coming to an end X_X Not to be trunky or baggie but apparently my family has received my flight itinerary… Wow… xD Its crazy how fast time is going by!!!!

I want to wish my Baby brother Nathan a happy birthday and hope that he will enjoy HIS day tomorrow!!!

I look forward for Christmas to be able to talk to my family through Skype one last time!!! I’m kind of nervous… Seeing how everyone has changed x.x Wow i’m not prepared at all!!! hahaha 😉

I love you guys so much and hope that everything is going well for you all!
